As a Christian Counselor I try to put forth some suggestion to help couples strengthen their marital bond. These relationship pointers help couples to not only grow in their marriage but also helps them to find new ways to appreciate one another. I believe that when a married couple makes their marriage a top priority that they will see their marriage blossom. Taking time out of your week to reconnect will help a couple to grow closer. Two important appointments I believe all couples should make with one another on a weekly basis:

  • Planning a date night weekly or bi-weekly.
  • Making an appointment with your spouse for a “Check in date”
  • “Date night” is all about you as a couple reconnecting with each other. It should not include talking about any subject matter or topic that could conflict with your desired outcome. Reconnecting and enjoying your evening together as husband and wife is your main goal. Date night is about celebrating your unity.

The “check in date” is about “checking in” showing your spouse you value them and, in an effort, to improve the marriage you set up this check in date is to make sure you and your spouse are on the same page. It’s a time to discuss your needs, wants and expectations. I encourage all couples to do just that weekly.
