Hello. Thank you for joining me today.
I am going to start by asking a question: “How valuable do you think Premarital counseling is?”
Premarital counseling with a Christian base is a unique and special kind of counseling for those people that are Christians. The focus of the marriage is directly centered around being a Christian and putting God at the center of your marriage.
Christian counseling prepares you for your first year of marriage and there after. It can give you some insight into what is important in the marriage and what is something you can compromise about. Like anything else marriage takes time and effort from both parties. It’s never one sided. You’re a team together and that is what you should be aware of going forward. I encourage you both, once you are married to take the steps you need, to make sure that you are nurturing your marriage relationship daily.
Some of the topics that are covered in the premarital class are the following:
- God’s plan for marriage
- Communication
- Conflict Resolution
- Intimacy
- Family Origin
- Forgiveness
- Boundaries
- Finances
There are a few more but I think those are the most important.
I encourage everyone to consider finding a Christian counselor and take the premarital class if there is one available. Think of it as an investment into your future. Even if you didn’t get to take the premarital class before you were married consider taking it now. You will benefit from it.
God bless you!
